LIFE GIVING STORIES

B has a PLAN Now!

“PR saved my life.  I learned how to choose my company and decided I wanted to live.  I think I’m a great father to my son.  I am majoring in Business, I’m living on campus and have so much to live for now..."

Two years ago B entered Project ReStore involved in a life threatening situation.  B’s, family was facing eviction, with no running water, and expecting his first child.  B was involved with a group of young men who had recently experienced a triple murder.  Two of which were close friends.

B was in and out of school and was faced with unresolved feelings and emotions.  When in school he was not focused but continued to revisit the scenes of violence and trauma in his community and within his immediate family.   “Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I get up in the morning because of the fact I made it alive another day”.  “This is our conversation, this is our life”.

B attended, participated and completed Project ReStore’s 12 week intensive intervention program, with aftercare and follow up services.  In a recent follow up we discovered that B completed high school, and is currently a student at Southern University.

Just recently talking to this young man he said, “PR saved my life.  I learned how to choose my company and decided I wanted to live.  I think I’m a great father to my son.  I am majoring in Business, I’m living on campus and have so much to live for now.  I thought I knew my self before I entered the program,  now, I really know myself, my strengths, and my shortcomings.  I am now able to change my thinking because I know in doing so it has changed my behavior.  I’ve accepted the fact that I had to make life work for me.  The guidance and structure the staff set for me I am still using.  Thank you my new family I will never forget how you encouraged me to be better than I was.  I will never forget how you sat and showed me how to look good on paper.  You gave me an opportunity to get my first job.  I am very grateful for what I learned, and for the staff that dug real deep to bring out what I didn’t know was there”.

More than anything, I will not leave my family behind.  This is for you Mom”.
